Many topics, one post

So super blog post made me think super date which made this necessary.

I have a reasonable number of small things to blog about, so I thought I would combine them into one, not necessarily super, but multi-topic post.

1. New Year's Resolutions

My resolutions are pretty simple. Quit smoking and quit drinking soda. So at 11:59 on December 31st I had a cigarette in one hand and a Bacardi and Coke in the other. Both of those were cast aside once the countdown was done. I've done pretty well. I broke on both yesterday, but fuck the lot of you if you think that's not doing well. I've decided quitting soda altogether is probably a little stupid, as when I had some yesterday it turned my entire shift around due to the energy it provided, so I'm thinking it'll be an emergency pick-me-up thing. Cigarettes are... whatever. I'm not smoking anymore. I'll slip up, because I will, but yeah.

2. Blog traffic

Ugh! I hate you guys. No one reads my posts. I mean, I get it, really, I'm crazy, my posts don't make a ton of sense, and it's basically having a one-sided conversation with me when you read them because I actually use a mildly conversational tone instead of preaching at you like oh so many other bloggers. BUT you could click the link and look at it. You don't have to read it. Blogger doesn't magically know whether or not you actually read the post, it just cares that you visited it. It's really depressing to watch one of my posts slowly work its way up to almost fifty views over the course of an entire day, and then have Josh post one and get that many within an hour. I'm glad to know that nobody cares what I have to say. The quitting blogging thing is a legitimate thing, because why put out something and spend time on it if no one cares? It's not like it helps my writing. Journaling (as in actual pen to paper) is a far better writing exercise and it doesn't make me feel like shit.

3. The Plague Part 2

I spent New Year's Eve day at work, slowly starting to feel like crap. By the time midnight rolled around death was at my shoulder. I managed to hold out at the party for another hour maybe (which wasn't good enough for my host, but sorry! I have to take care of myself when I'm sick >.<) and then boyfriend and I went home. Well we stopped at the store and went home. I proceeded to spend the next three days (which I happened to have off) feeling like absolute death and sleeping as much as possible. I worked yesterday and still felt kind of crappy. Today I mostly feel better. Bless boyfriend for making me food (including homemade chicken/turkey noodle soup!) and braving the possibility that he might catch the plague because cuddling makes me feel better.

4. I might be out of things to talk about

I feel like I had more things to say. I guess I'll like you to a couple of previous posts.

My post addressing meditation, which also happens to reference Avatar. Mine's better because it has a video. Don't read Josh's.

Click on this please. This is the only post that I actually put some work into really. Besides the Doctor Who recaps. I made that image, and yes there's a bar of white on the side, and no I don't care because I couldn't tell until I loaded it on here and posted the post so deal with it please.

On the subject of Doctor Who recaps, I'm not writing any more. The first one has been getting some views recently (possibly due to people googling quotes), but they're just way too much work for no one to read them. If you're super torn up about this why don't you check this shit out. Jacob is a far better recapper than I will ever hope to be and he approaches shows with the same sort of enthusiasm I do, so enjoy. No pictures there though.

5. I thought of something else!

I've been sort of slacking on the soundtrack thing, so I thought I'd share two wildly different songs that I jammed out to in my weird caffeinated, nicotine-y state on my drive home from work last night.

This is "That's What It's Like In Japan" by Logan Whitehurst. I think I got directed to him through Neil Cicierega's LJ (you've probably have seen some stuff he's made. Like Potter Puppet Pals or The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny. If not, go watch them all now please.) Anyhoo, Logan Whitehurst had people submit song titles to him so he could write short songs to match and get past his writer's block. Then he died. If I remember correctly. The songs are pretty outrageous and worth checking out.

And this is a cover of the Rolling Stone's Ruby Tuesday by Franco Battiato. If you've seen Children of Men (which you should've) you've heard this before. I enjoy it a lot and it's nice when I want to zone out a bit. I definitely rocked out to it last night though. I don't know why there are cows in this video, but it's outrageous and must be posted here.

Toodles for now 2 people who read my posts!

Click for full-size.
In the Design tab, click on the Edit link in the bottom-right hand corner of your  'Blog Posts' panel, and check the box to enable what I've labeled tags, but should be labeled as 'labels' for you. As for assigning tags to your posts, that is in the lower-right hand corner of your compose box when you write a new post. Let me know when you've read and understand this so that Katrina won't know I edited this post >_>

  1. I come seeking your infinite wisdom...how do you insert the "tags" section onto your blog post? For the life of me, I cannot figure this out

  2. I assumed they were enabled by default. I only changed their title from 'labels' to 'tags', Check out the design tab. I will edit this post with a screenshot of the process and hope Katrina doesn't kill me for editing her post.

  3. I read your posts! And having me actively reading your blog automatically makes it, like, 20 times cooler. Minimum. I'm very picky about things I read and your writing style happens to be one I really like! BE HONORED, WOMAN.
